Syria bans niqab at universities

It's interesting that women refusing to show their faces in public causes so much fear among people, governments especially. The burka is a actually a thinly veiled (sorry for the pun) threat to the very concept of government authority, among other things of course.

Syria has banned female students from wearing the niqab, or full face veil, at its universities. Education officials have been quoted as saying the move was intended to protect the nation’s secular identity.
